My Journey as a Healthy Hands Cooking Instructor

I have truly come full circle. My first "real" job was as a cook's assistant at a Girl Scout camp for two summers as well as the council's outdoor cooking specialist. After a successful career in technology and a decade of being a stay at home mom to four, I made the decision to completely alter course and follow my fascination with the magic of food.

I became a dual trained nutrition consultant in 2010, specializing in pediatric and autism as well as other niches often overlooked. I was also trained by Jeffrey Smith as a GMO speaker.

I have always loved food, teaching, reading recipes, and creating fun and yummy dishes, so becoming a certified instructor was a natural expansion.

Healthy cooking can very well be fun, inexpensive, and yummy.

Established Class Formats

Although these are already designed with Healthy Hands Cooking, watch for specialty events and partnerships, or create your own.

Parties include up to 10 kids (birthday girl/boy plus 9 guests).

Choose from one of twelve birthday menus.

Party guests help prepare the meal and receive printed recipes to keep.

Price includes food, preparation tools, clean-up, and hands-on instruction.

Parents supply the plates, cutlery, drinks, decorations, and dessert. Birthday parties are held in the child's home or parent provided kitchen facility.

These theme based classes each start with a nutrition game or activity followed by hands-on cooking lessons. Each student will receive an activity handout with recipes to keep. Some examples are:

Yummy Munchies
Healthy Snacking

Cooking with Herbs

Around the World

This is our signature program that will lay a foundation of nutrition and cooking skills for years to come. Classes are typically for ages 5-8 and 9-13.

Classes are usually held for 2 hours a week, for 4 weeks, but can be in a 'camp' type format.

Plant the seeds of healthy cooking!  We've got fun, age appropriate classes bursting with hands-on activities, healthy concept learning through games, and of course, empowering your little one to create their own special healthy snacks. Classes are theme-based and one hour in length.

Say good-bye to the Freshman 15!  Learn to create your own delicious meals using simple ingredients, simple tools, and simple preparation methods. This Healthy Hands Cooking “Healthy College Cooking 101” is made up of a series of 4 classes designed just for YOU.

Have a Girl Scout troop looking for help with earning cooking badges or just looking to have a fun experience? I will make it easy for you by combining your badge requirements as a 3rd generation life time Girl Scout myself, using a high-quality and intimate class structure!

Although these are designed for Girl Scouting, I have a long history with Boy and Cub Scouting leadership (including day camps) and can tailor for your needs as well.
